Honda unveils semi-autonomous riding mower that learns from its owner
Honda will debut its new ProZision series of battery-riding mowers, including an autonomous model, at the Equip Exposition 2025. The autonomous version is designed to operate after an initial teaching phase that requires a human rider to establish mowing routes.
The ProZision Autonomous model includes a seat for the initial setup process, during which a person on board teaches the machine specific mowing routes and patterns. The mower then uses satellite-guided navigation to lock in these learned paths. After this teaching phase is complete, the unit can function independently. Honda states one model can trim grass “without needing a human operator on board.” Users can then select pre-programmed routes and adjust settings for autonomous operation via an accompanying app.
Marketing materials and specifications indicate the product is aimed at professional landscapers rather than average gardeners. Minoru Kato, general manager of Honda’s motorcycle and power products operations, confirmed the mower was “developed to help reduce various burdens on landscaping businesses facing challenges such as an aging and workforce shortages.” The mower’s specifications align with this professional focus, featuring a 60-inch cutting width and a runtime that can cover up to 15 acres, depending on conditions.
Honda has not yet announced the price for the autonomous unit. However, the manual models in the ProZision series will cost $32,999. The new line of mowers is scheduled to become available in the United States market during the summer of 2026.
